What happens if you install Android on iPhone
If Android can be found on gadgets of a wide range of brands, then only Apple smartphones work on the basis of iOS. For more than 10 years of existence of these platforms, enthusiasts have repeatedly tried to add "freedom from Android" to the smartphones of the Cupertino company. Someone took this literally and ported Android to the gadgets of an American company. How it ended - in the material "Gazeta.Ru". bacobolts
First iPhones on Android
The first Android builds for Apple smartphones appeared in 2010 - but even then they were very stable solutions. All Android ports on iPhone 2G and subsequent models allowed using almost all smartphone functions, except for the main one - such devices did not see the SIM card. These ports were based on the first versions of Android - 1.6-2.3 and when the smartphone was turned on, they were offered to boot one of two systems to choose from.
In any case, the "pioneering programmers" managed
to launch third-party applications, use the browser using a WiFi connection,
and even make calls over it.
The most famous project ported Android OS to the iPhone is called Project Sandcastle. The Corellium development team was
able to bring Android 10 to the iPhone 7, 7 Plus and iPod Touch 7 in 2020.
Enthusiasts have made the assembly publicly available. They
suggested installing a beta version, in which the camera, Bluetooth and other
important functions related to the hardware did not work at that time. To
install the Automaton operating system on an Apple smartphone, you first had to
perform a procedure called jailbreak.
Jailbreak is an operation not officially supported by Apple
that opens access to the file system of the company's gadgets. This greatly
expands the aptitudes of the device, but at the same time makes it more
vulnerable. Jailbroken devices are not covered under warranty.
Despite the fact that the development team responsible for
releasing the Android port on the iPhone did not take any responsibility in the
event of broken devices, many users wanted to test the functionality of this
assembly. In the spring of 2020, social networks began to flood photos of the
iPhone 7 with an Android desktop.
Popular Russian tech blogger Valentin Petukhov (Wylsacom)
filmed the experiment.
“Basically, it slows down like a regular Android ... There
is no camera, some basic things. Absolutely inoperative. There is no point in
it. Android on iPhone 7 sounds straight forward. Why do you need Android on
iPhone? Not needed - in fact, it’s pampering and whim, ”says Wylsacom.
Apple is suing the port's developers. Fortunately for the
enthusiasts, the Cupertino-based company lost out - the court ruled that
Corellium "brings something new to iOS" that allows programmers to
fully work with this closed system, performing operations that Apple prohibits.
Despite a good start, world recognition and victory over
Apple, since then Corellium has not released new assemblies, and, apparently,
development has been abandoned.
iPhone with firmware from Xiaomi
Xioami smartphones are based on one of the most functional
shells from the Android world - MIUI. An unknown enthusiast in 2021 tried to
combine the functionality of Xiaomi and the stability of the iPhone - he
managed to run MIUI 11 on the first generation iPhone SE. The blogger posted a
short video about his development.
